Class from SSCA at Northgate CC, I’m not sure if I’m going to attend, I think the timing is a little early for me on this one, but it sounds like a lot of fun!

CELESTIAL NAVIGATION WORKSHOP

“What To Do When Your Electronics Fail”

April 28 & 29, 2007

This course will teach the basics of astronomy for sailors, including using and calibrating a sextant, taking a noonsite to determine latitude, determining latitude and longitude from star sites, and dead reckoning. Julie has taught celestial navigation with a focus on history at Mystic Seaport, to Sea Cadets, and elsewhere. Julie is also on the board of the National Woman’s Sailing Association.

Cost: $300 members/$350 non-members.

Location: North Seattle Community College, Seattle, Wa.
