I was pretty sure that Jeff was wrong when he said you can't get free Canadian Vector charts, but low and behold there are no free charts from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. You can see they do create electronic charts but to get one you need to buy them and the link from the government's site is to Nautical Data International, Digital Ocean.
Interestingly, they list raster charts as recreational and vector charts as professional, which I'm assuming means they cost more (that sucks). For raster versions the East Coast of Vancouver Island and Puget SOund will cost $349, Queen Charlotte Sound up to Alaska will cost you an additional $349 and the West side of Vancouver Island and Queen Charlotte Islands will cost you yet another $349 (all prices Canadian). Alternatively you could buy a Pacific coast Super Value Pack for $899 which would save you $148 Canadian.
The Digital Ocean Professional which are vector based are a lot more expensive and not as complete. For the East coast of Vancouver Island it will cost you $1,199 and the same for the West Coast; Yikes!
I'm very suprised that in this instance NOAA outdoes the CHS.
