Update on the FCC dropping morse code requirement for licensing

I’ve been dying to get more info on the FCC dropping the Morse code requirement, so I checked out the ARRL web site today. (The FCC site sucks and you can’t find anything). Lucky me, they had an article on the home page from today. The gist of the story is the FCC has still given no timeline on when they will adopt the Notice of Proposed Rule Making and Order to drop Morse Code. The ARRL seems to believe its a forgone conclusion they will adopt the rule change (yeah!) but they don’t know exactly when the announcement will be made. It does seem likely though that it will be at the May 19–21 Dayton Hamvention.

I’ve already passed the General written exam and I assume I’ll be able to upgrade as soon as they drop the Morse requirement.
