Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System (PORTS®)

NOAA announced back in August that it had PORTS data available for the lower Columbia. Well woop dee doo is what I thought because I had no idea what it is, so I dug in a little bit and poked around and ya know what its pretty cool! Basically you can now go to one site to find graphics of wind, air temp, barometer and water level readings for locations along the lower Columbia. the current location reporting are Astoria and Longview, but they plan to bring Skamokawa, Wauna, St. Helens and Vancouver online in the future. The basic presentation looks a lot what you might see for a weather station or buoy, like the one at West Point in Puget Sound.

Poking around on the site some of the other PORTS locations have pretty cool data which includes a screen shot of a chart with the current wind shown, like this example from the The Narrows Bridge in NJ/NY.
